The MU School of Law offers a collegial environment, reinforced by a small student body and a low faculty-student ratio. The intimacy of this setting, coupled with reasonable cost, consistently high bar passage rates, a network of alumni around the globe and access to top scholars in the legal world, make MU Law one of the best values in the nation.
Hello! My name is Billy Borgmeyer and I am a 1L from Columbia, MO. I graduated from the University of Missouri in 2013 with two Bachelor of Science degrees in Economics and Statistics. Through undergrad I worked at Boone County National Bank as a Consumer Banking Rep, served as the treasurer and fundraiser for the music service fraternity Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and have been serving on the Board of Directors for the Voluntary Action Center for the past four years here in Columbia.
Law school was never in my plans at the beginning of college. I started as a trumpet and vocal performance music major, as well as a biochemistry major, with aspirations of being a doctor who could perform in front of patients on the operating table. Economics and statistics however eventually won me over with their analytic approaches to social sciences. I settled upon pursuing a degree in law to supplement my previous studies, and so far I couldn't be happier.
So far as a lifelong Columbian, there is always the distant wish of moving away, seeing a new city, and gaining independence from mid-Missouri. But whenever I looked at schools, at areas of practice I wanted to pursue, and who would provide me the best legal education in the best atmosphere, Mizzou was always the answer. So please, if you’re on the fence about law school in general and especially about Mizzou Law, don’t hesitate to contact me. Ask me anything about Columbia, Mid-Missouri, econ, statistics, music, and anything in-between!
