Hi!  My name is Amie Coleman.  I am a 3L at Mizzou Law, working on a JD/MBA.  I grew up around Farmington, Missouri.  I graduated from Truman State University in 2010 with a BA in Business Administration, Management.  I would like to say I was really involved during my undergrad time, but it just isn't true.  I regretted not being more involved at Truman and have made sure that I won't have that same regret when I leave Mizzou.

After I graduated from Truman, law school was barely even an idea to me.  I was burnt out on education and was ready to go be an adult with a 9-5 life.  Soon after graduation I moved to St. Louis and started working as a processing assistant at USA Mortgage.  By August I was looking into graduate programs to see who would take me back - the "real world" wasn't cutting it for me.  When I sat down and really thought about what I wanted to do, I realized that a law degree would be the best path for me.  Mind you, this was about October and I didn't even know what the LSAT was so I was a little late in the game compared to everyone else.

Mizzou Law was an easy choice for me.  I knew I wanted to stay in-state.  I knew KC was not for me (St. Louis has Ted Drewes, enough said).  I knew I didn't want to stay in St. Louis and live with my parents for 3 more years (my mom highly objected to this).  And I knew I wanted to do a dual degree program.  To keep my mom happy, I narrowed my options to SLU and Mizzou.  But Mizzou had everything I was looking for.  It was nicely ranked, without the price tag that normally comes with that.  It had the MBA program I was looking for, with an average age that wouldn't make me feel left out.  And the admissions staff were some of the nicest people I had ever met, always there to help and quick to offer reassurance during the very stressful time after applying.

Picking Mizzou was the best choice I could have made for myself.  The faculty and staff here are the best you will find.  Not only are they knowledgeable, but they're personable and they genuinely want you to succeed.  The admissions process can be stressful, but we are all here to help make it a little easier!  If you have any questions, either about the law school admissions process, dual degree programs, or both,  I'm more than happy to help.
