The MU School of Law offers a collegial environment, reinforced by a small student body and a low faculty-student ratio. The intimacy of this setting, coupled with reasonable cost, consistently high bar passage rates, a network of alumni around the globe and access to top scholars in the legal world, make MU Law one of the best values in the nation.
Hi! My name is Samantha and I’m a 1L from Malden, Missouri (a very, very small town in the Bootheel of the state). I’ve spent the past four years studying at the Missouri School of Journalism, earning a Bachelor of Journalism with an emphasis in Strategic Communication. I’ve loved every minute of my time here at Mizzou—Columbia’s cool factor made the decision to stay for law school even easier!
Until the end of my junior year, I’d never given law school any serious thought. While it had always been in the back of my mind, I’d always assumed it was an unrealistic option for me from a financial standpoint. When I met with the admissions staff to discuss my options, I was blown away by the incredible value Mizzou Law offers. Not only was it something I could realistically afford, I knew I wouldn’t have to sacrifice the quality of my education in order to do so. Combined with the cooperative atmosphere prevalent throughout Huslton Hall— there was never any doubt. This was the place for me. I really encourage you to come see for yourself. Taking a tour is the best way to get a feel for our campus!
Abraham Lincoln said, “The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.” I wrote that quote on a post-it note and stuck it to my mirror on the morning I started my LSAT prep. A year later, as I’m settling into my first year of law school, it’s still there because it serves as a great reminder to take things one step at a time. I’m not too far removed from the stress of the law school search—feel free to email me should you ever have a question or need a quick pep talk. I hope to see you around Hulston sometime soon!
