Hello and welcome to all prospective MU Law Students! My name is Melissa and I’m in my second year of law school. I’m what you could call a non-traditional student since I’m also a wife and the mother of 9-year-old Ethan and 2-year-old Amelia.
Law school is incredibly challenging for anyone, but it is particularly challenging if you are balancing a family at the same time. I chose MU Law first and foremost because I experienced something different whenever I dealt with MU as compared to other schools—everyone I came into contact with here was encouraging, helpful and just plain nice! That experience continued all throughout my first year. The supportive environment at MU Law has allowed me to fully participate as a student without sacrificing my family life, and Columbia has been a great place to be both a student and a parent. I would be glad to talk with you about why MU Law would be a great choice for you, too!
