The MU School of Law offers a collegial environment, reinforced by a small student body and a low faculty-student ratio. The intimacy of this setting, coupled with reasonable cost, consistently high bar passage rates, a network of alumni around the globe and access to top scholars in the legal world, make MU Law one of the best values in the nation.
Hi! My name is Brittany Chapman and I am a 3L (third year) law student here at MU. I am originally from Saint Louis, MO, and for all of you St. Louisians out there, I know you are just dying to know that I graduated from Riverview Gardens High School. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Missouri State University in General Business in May of 2010, with minors in both Legal Studies in Business and Technical Writing.
There are a couple of reasons why I chose to attend Mizzou Law. The first and most important reason for me is because I knew that wherever I decided to go, I wanted to feel like I was at home and around people I could count on. From the personal telephone calls to the handwritten letters from students, MU showed me that it could give me that and so much more. And it has. Although law school can be competitive, because of my peers and the overall atmosphere of Mizzou, I can honestly say that I can trust my classmates to sincerely lend a helping hand when needed because at the end of the day, we know we are all in this together and want to see each other succeed. The faculty and staff also have a way of showing that they genuinely care about each and every student and the smaller classroom sizes makes it that much easier to connect with professors. Oh, and don’t even get me started on how much support and encouragement I have received from MU Law Alums!
I also chose Mizzou because I knew I could get a private education experience for a public education cost. MU Faculty is made up of both national and international scholars who are extremely knowledgeable on their respective areas of law. They are committed to challenging us and preparing us as future lawyers and whatever your interests, MU tries hard to make sure that faculty serves not only as professors, but also as resources for career development. This, along with availability of scholarships and the relatively low cost of tuition, and I knew that MU Law was the place to be! (Less loans = Happy Brittany!)
I encourage you to come and visit us, shoot me an e-mail, or even Facebook me! I would love to answer any questions you may have about MU Law or just law school in general. I wish you all the best in your endeavors and I hope to see you in the hallways soon!
