The MU School of Law offers a collegial environment, reinforced by a small student body and a low faculty-student ratio. The intimacy of this setting, coupled with reasonable cost, consistently high bar passage rates, a network of alumni around the globe and access to top scholars in the legal world, make MU Law one of the best values in the nation.
Hey there! My name is Jeremy Shewmaker and I’m a 1L here at the University of Missouri School of Law. I was born in St. Louis but I have lived here in Columbia since I was 11 years old, so I consider Columbia to be my home. I graduated from Mizzou in December 2010 with a BA in English. I spent two and a half years working between undergrad and law school.
For me Mizzou Law was the only choice. I came to the MU Law open house event in fall of 2010, and doing that made me want to come to law school. I don’t think you can find a friendlier group of faculty and students. It is very clear from the start of orientation that most of the faculty has an open door policy and that most of the upperclassmen will help you if you ask. Also, affordability was a big factor in my decision to attend Mizzou Law.
I am a COMO native so if you have questions about Columbia, or if you have questions about making the transition from working full-time to going to school full-time just let me know. Seriously, if you want to know what the best restaurants are, or the best roads to take to beat traffic, I am your go-to-guy. Or, if you have questions about anything else, I would be more than happy to answer them.
