Greetings! My name is Darrion and I am a third-year law student from Kansas City, Missouri. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Socio-political Communication at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. I am the first in my family to attend and complete college, as well as to pursue a professional degree. With that in mind, both the cost of a legal education as well as the support system an institution could provide were big deciding factors for me in choosing where to attend law school. Not only is Mizzou Law comparatively affordable, but it truly presents students with opportunities to grow as legal scholars/future practitioners and as people. For that reason (in addition to Michelle Heck and the admissions office generally being awesome), I chose to attend Mizzou Law immediately upon being notified of my acceptance.
Since then, I have been very active in various activities, including the Board of Advocates, the Black Law Students' Association, Phi Alpha Delta, and the Regional and National Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Teams. Upon graduating law school, I plan on becoming a trial lawyer, focused on tort and insurance litigation. If you have any questions about life at Mizzou Law, Columbia or anything involving advocacy, please do not hesitate to contact me!
