LL.M. PROGRAM WELCOMES NEW CLASS OF STUDENTS
This year the LL.M. Program will have 20 students including 10 full-time students, 4 new part-time students, 5 continuing part-time students, and 1 Fulbright visiting scholar who will take two LL.M. courses as a non-degree student. This is another very experienced, talented, exciting, and diverse group of people. Again we will have students from around the world including China, Lebanon, Israel, Singapore, and Uganda. AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION HOUSE OF DELEGATES TAKES ACTION ON ADR
At its annual meeting earlier this month, the American Bar Association's House of Delegates approved ethical guidelines for lawyers in settlement negotiations proposed by the Section of Litigation. The guidelines are available on the ABA web site. The House of Delegates also approved the creation of an international non-profit organization to educate consumers, businesses and lawyers in the emerging field of online dispute resolution (ODR) and a set of recommended best practices for ODR providers. ONLINE CONFERENCE, AUGUST 30
A professional mediators online conference will be held August 30, 1:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time. This conference is a free, noncommercial place in cyberspace for mediators to discuss practice issues with peers and mentors. For more details see www.mediationworks.com.
SECOND MEXICAN NATIONAL CONFERENCE ADDRESSING MEDIATION
MEXICO CITY, SEPT. 9-14
The Second Mexican National Conference, which will focus on mediation, be held September 9th - 14th, 2002, in Mexico City, Mexico. This conference will be held in Spanish and is being hosted by the Tribunal Superior de Justicia del Distrito Federal. There is also a call for roundtable presentations where mediation is connected to the judicial system. ORGANIZING COMMITTEE FOR MISSOURI AFCC LUNCH AND LEARN SESSION
CLAYTON, MO, SEPT. 18
The Organizing Committee for Missouri Association of Family and Conciliation Courts is sponsoring its St. Louis Area Lunch and Learn Series, presenting "Spite and Malice: Not in the Best Interest of the Child" on Sept. 18, from noon to 1:30 pm at 121 S. Meramec, Rm. 1012 in Clayton, MO. The presenters will be Baker Symes, MA, and Lee Streett, MA. For more information about the presenters and their practice, see www.kidsinthemiddle.org. MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
The Agriculture National Marketing Services of the Maryland Department of Agriculture is seeking a mediation coordinator to assist with the daily activities of the agricultural mediation program, meet with potential users of mediation services, distribute promotional materials, and draft grant funding requests. The Pittsburgh Mediation Center is seeking a qualified individual to lead a new project providing conflict resolution training and developing capacity in Allegheny County's Department of Human Services Regional Service Centers.
