MISSOURI WAS WELL-REPRESENTED AT ABA DISPUTE RESOLUTION CONFERENCE
Many MU students, alumni, and faculty attended the ABA 's ninth annual conference, which took place in Washington, DC, April 26-28. Prof. Philip Harter was a panelist in “Whither Public Policy Mediation.” Prof. John Lande presented in two panels: “Helping Mediation Program Administrators Grapple with Problems in Developing Quality Mediation Programs” and “You Want WHAT?: Changing Expectations in the Commercial Market for Mediators.” Prof. Richard Reuben was a panelist in “ADR in the New Workplace: Raising the Bar on Employment Dispute Resolution.”

Alyson Carrel (JD '04) and Art Hinshaw (LLM '00), were two of the three national coordinators of the Representation in Mediation Competition. Art also served as a panelist for “Teaching the Future Lawyer: Balancing the Teaching of Neutrality and Advocacy in Mediation and Arbitration Courses.” Paula Young (LLM ‘03), Appalachian School of Law, was a panelist for “Ethical Codes and Frameworks for Mediation: Does Form Follow Function?” John R. Phillips (JD ‘71), Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin, Kansas City, MO, was a panelist for “An Arbitrator's Guide to Avoiding Vacatur.”
