Bob Bailey, CSDR director and assistant dean, will speak to the National Academy of Arbitrators for the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service on April 11 in Chicago.
PROF. JOHN LANDE TO GIVE TALKS ON COOPERATIVE LEGAL PRACTICE
Prof. John Lande has been giving talks based on his study of Cooperative Lawyers in Wisconsin. He will give presentations at the Seattle law firm, McKinley Irvin, on April 2, at the annual conference of the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution on April 6, on a conference call CLE to Colorado dispute resolution practitioners on April 9, at the Connecticut Bar Foundation / Quinnipiac Law School ADR Symposium on May 16, at the annual conference of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts on May 29, and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association ADR Committee on July 2. He previously gave talks on this subject to the Institute of Continuing Legal Education in Georgia, Wisconsin Divorce Cooperation Institute, and the Harvard Program on Negotiation. PROF. JOHN LANDE WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE INTERNATIONAL MEDIATION LEADERSHIP SUMMIT
Prof. John Lande will participate in International Mediation Leadership Summit, “Forging a Global Dispute Resolution Profession,” which will take place on Oct. 31 in The Hague in The Netherlands. The Summit will be co-sponsored by the American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution, in collaboration with ACB Group-Netherlands, ADR Center-Rome, and the International Mediation Institute.
LL.M. STUDENTS AND ALUMNI PARTICIPATE IN MISSOURI MEDIATION MONTH CEREMONY
Several MU Law School alumni and students attended the “Missouri Mediation Month” ceremony held March 12, led by Gov. Matt Blunt. Attendees included Jim Reeves (LLM ’04), chair, ADR Committee, Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis; current LL.M. student Martha Halvordson, and Stephanie Sloggett-O’Dell (LL.M. ’07), both members of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association ADR Committee. The Governor’s proclamation commends the increasingly important role of mediation in “fostering communication and cooperation…offering a forum for creative options…and providing a less costly and less time-consuming alternative to litigation… .”

The City University of New York Dispute Resolution Consortium at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, announces an international competition for short videos of up to 60 seconds using any of the themes in the 24 “Make Talk Work,” bookmarks.
