Director Bailey joined the Law School in the 1979 as Academic Counselor and Instructor of Legal Research and Writing and Appellate Advocacy. He left the Law School from 1983-87 to serve as Municipal Judge for the City of Columbia. In 1987 he returned to the Law School and now serves as Director, Assistant Dean, and CSDR Senior Fellow. He continued to serve as Associate Municipal Judge until June 2005.

Bailey has an active arbitration practice, including being an arbitrator for Major League Baseball salary arbitration. He serves on the Executive Board of the Nartional Academy of Arbitrators. Dean Bailey is also very involved in community and University projects and has served as member or on the boards of numerous community organizations, for which he has received many honors. Dean Bailey serves as chair of the Athletic Department’s Strategic Planning Committee and the Professional Sports Counsel Panel. He is also vice-chair of the Health Sciences Institutional Review Board and a member of the University’s Conflict of Interest Committee and the Thompson Center for Autism. He is vice-chair of The Missouri Bar’s Dispute Resolution Committee. He is a Commissioner with the National Conference on Uniform State Laws. He chairs or has chaired the Boone Family Resource Center, the Family Health Center, the Central Missouri Food Bank, the Regional AIDS Interfaith Network, and the Industrial Development Authority. He teaches Arbitration, Lawyering Seminar, Lawyering and Dispute Resolution.

Bob is married to Sharon, a kindergarten teacher extraordinaire. They have two children, Tara and Jessica, and one grandson, Caden.
