Application Information
The Cape Town Summer Study Abroad Program is open to law students who have successfully completed the first or second year of law school at an ABA-accredited law school. Individuals who have completed their J.D. course work at an ABA-accredited law school also can participate in this program. Non-MU students must submit a letter of good standing from their registrar or dean of students.
Although this program is accredited by the American Bar Association, the acceptance of any credit or grade for any course taken in this program is subject to a determination by a student’s home school. It is unlikely that participation in the South Africa Study Abroad program may be used to accelerate graduation. For more information on this matter, students must contact their home schools to review this issue in light of ABA Standard 304, Interpretation 304-4.
This program will be open to 10 South African law school students from the University of the Western Cape.
Instructions for Submitting ApplicationEnrollment is limited to 22 American law students and 10 South African law students to keep classes small and to ensure the interactive nature of each course. Qualified students are accepted on a first-applied, first-enrolled basis. Application Deadline: February 29, 2008 or until space is full. Applications will be accepted after February 29, 2008 if space is still available.University of Missouri Law StudentsComplete the application form (PDF) and return it to Registrar Denise Boessen in Room 203. Include a non-refundable $50.00 application fee and a $250.00 deposit with your application if you apply before January 16, 2008. If you apply before February 29, 2008, please include the $50.00 application fee and a $500.00 dollar deposit.
