Submission Guidelines and Communicating with Publishers:

Washington and Lee Law School: Most Cited Legal Periodicals U.S. and selected non-U.S. The journal list can be sorted alphabetically (journal name) or in rank order (by citation count). Clicking on the individual publication in a results list will provide journal website, contact information, and submissions policy information. The pull down menu “journal subjects” allows the list to be limited to journals that fall within broad subject areas. There is an option available for email submission of law review articles.

Law Review Submission Guidelines for Tier 1 and Tier 2 Law Schools: A database is maintained by the University of Missouri at Columbia School of Law Library. It contains basic submission guidelines for Tier 1 & Tier 2 Law Schools. Rankings are obtained from the U.S. News and Annual Report Schools of Law Rankings. The database will be updated annually; for the most current information be sure to visit the law review links provided. LexisNexis Online Directory of Law Reviews and Scholarly Legal Periodicals: Published as a service to legal scholars by LexisNexis. The basic purpose of the Directory is to help authors identify and communicate with potential publishers.

Article Length Limitations
Joint statement regarding law review articles length. The statement was issued following the Harvard Law Review nationwide survey of law faculty regarding the state of legal scholarship.

Submission Services

ExpressO Submissions Service: A service of Berkeley Electronic Press. For a fee, ExpressO will electronically deliver your manuscript to your choice of law reviews. If the law review does not accept electronic submissions they will send hardcopy. The MU Law Library does not maintain an institutional account for this service but you can pay a fee to use ExpressO as an individual.

SSRN Online Submission System
SSRN services provide an aggregation of working papers and is not a refereeing process. No fee is charged for the submission of abstracts and papers for inclusion in the SSRN eLibrary and publication in email journals. Authors are encouraged to submit all their working paper and accepted paper abstracts and papers.

Locating Law Review Websites Online:

Law Reviews Online (Library of Congress): This list of online law reviews is maintained by the Law Library of Congress. Only electronic journals and other periodicals providing substantial amounts of legal analysis are included. Listing includes those sites offering free and complete access to the full text of articles and notes in complete issues. Journals which offer only promotional information, tables of contents, or abstracts are omitted.
