Resourcing your Research Assistant
Please notify Cindy Shearrer, Faculty Services Coordinator, as soon as you hire a research assistant. Contact Cindy by or at (573) 882-1125.
There are many ways the library can assist in resourcing your Research Assistant:
Training: Does your RA need help jump starting your research? Let Cindy know and a librarian will provide assistance.
Faculty Study Room: If you like, we can provide a place in the law library to secure materials used for your research projects.
Proxy Card: A proxy card can be issued to your RA to use when checking out library materials for your research. All materials checked out on a proxy card appear on the borrowing record of the Law Faculty member, and that faculty member is responsible for them.
Borrowing books: Your RA can use the proxy card to initiate borrowing requests from many other libraries in Missouri. It is important for the RA to use the proxy card, rather than their personal library record, when initiating these requests. Please have your RA contact Cindy if they need assistance in initiating borrowing requests.
Printing from a copier in the library: If your RA needs to use a law library copier they are authorized to use the Administrative/Faculty copicard available from the library circulation desk.
Printing in the computer lab: Westlaw and Lexis printouts will be free, but if your RA needs to print word processing or Internet documents in the lab you will need to authorize a print account for your RA. This will enable your RA to make printouts without incurring charges to their personal print account. Instead, the charges will be taken from your faculty account. With your approval, Cindy can facilitate setting up this print account.
