BIOGRAPHY
Philip Peters, Jr., is the Ruth L. Hulston Professor of Law at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law,
where he teaches Health Care Law & Policy, Bioethics, and Torts. Before that, he was a trial lawyer specializing
in malpractice and product liability actions and a civil rights lawyer at the U.S. Department of Justice.
He is a member of the American Law Institute, where he serves on two consultative groups for the Restatement
Third of Torts. He also serves on various ethics and policy committees at his medical school and teaches
classes annually at both the medical and veterinary schools.
Over the past 10 years, Phil has written about death and dying, malpractice, reproductive technology
and the tension between cost control and disability rights.
