Hello! My name is Craig Cooper, and I’m in my third year of law school here at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I hail from the sprawling metropolis of Thayer, MO (population 2,201). After 18 wonderful years running barefoot in the hills of Thayer, I headed off to a small suburb of Thayer known as Memphis, TN. I completed my undergraduate studies at Rhodes College, majoring in Political Science with a minor in Religious Studies. At Rhodes I served as President of the Social Regulations Council, Philanthropy Chair for Kappa Sigma fraternity, and I also served on the Judicial Task Force, reviewing student conduct policies at the college. Additionally, I participated in Mock Trial and a number of other campus organizations and honor societies, including the Rhodes College Singers and MasterSingers Chorale, Woolsocks (male a cappella group), the Peer Ministry Council, Omicron Delta Kappa (academic/leadership honor society), Pi Sigma Alpha (political science honor society), and Tau Alpha Kappa (religious studies honor society).

Here at Mizzou, in addition to the hustle and bustle of law school, I sing in Choral Union, a college-sponsored community choir, and Add 9, Mizzou’s premier male a cappella group. In my free time, I enjoy reading (something other than law school casebooks), napping, listening to music, and going out with friends to enjoy all the Columbia area has to offer. In the course of my legal studies, I’m currently focused on Real Estate Transactions and Contract Law.

The University of Missouri-Columbia was an easy choice for me. After visiting a number of other law schools, I found the atmosphere at Mizzou to be well-suited to my needs. The University’s School of Law hosts an amazing faculty whose members are not only extremely knowledgeable and well-respected in their respective fields, but extraordinarily accessible, approachable, and genuinely interested in the progress of their students. In addition the students are intelligent, friendly, diverse, and provide the school with a congenial and cooperative atmosphere. In your search, I’m sure you’ll find that these qualities are not always easy to come by, even at the best institutions. The price, undoubtedly, is hard to beat.

We appreciate your interest in the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, and hope that you might find yourself at home here.
