Hi!  My name is Carolyn and I am a 1L at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law.  I received my BA in English from the University of Maryland in 2005 and worked for the National Institutes of Health for nearly two years before moving to Missouri to attend law school.  So far the experience has been challenging and extremely rewarding.

Originally from metropolitan Maryland, Columbia, Missouri was very appealing to me because it offers many amenities that are associated with a larger town while offering the benefits of small town living.  I feel very safe in Columbia and enjoy the lower cost of living.  Not only are we just minutes away from the mall and shopping district but we are also a very short drive to beautiful, scenic hiking trails.  

My main motivation for moving to Missouri, however, was to attend the Mizzou Law School.  While looking for the right school, it was important to me that the law school that I attended be part of a major university so that I could benefit from a great alumni network and could take advantage of the many benefits and resources that are offered on a large campus.  MU stood out from the other large schools because there is a palpable commitment to each individual student's success that was apparent to me from the very beginning of my search.  Moreover, the faculty is an amazing group of professionals that will be a true asset to all of us who attend the Law School.  I am very glad that I chose Mizzou because I know that every resource that I need to successfully achieve my goals is readily available.
