Ask a Student AmbassadorAdam Hanna , 1L
Hello! I'm Adam and I'm a first year law student – also known as a 1L – at Mizzou. I grew up in Sparta, IL and received my bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. As an undergraduate, I was involved in many student activities, and served as the student government president for two years. Coming from a relatively small college, I was nervous about the transition to a much larger campus. Fortunately, life at Mizzou isn't as different as I thought it would be. The law school is small enough to always see familiar faces, but just big enough that it isn't unusual to meet someone new. Mizzou was my first choice for law school, and I don't regret that decision. I looked at other schools, but the cost, atmosphere, and reputation of MU made the choice easy. After I decided to apply at MU, I worked as a summer intern in a prosecutor's office. During my first week on the job, I discovered that all but one of the attorneys in the office were graduates of the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Law! Law school is a busy and intense experience for everyone. Before I started, I expected days full of dry lectures and boring reading. Thankfully, law school has been far more enjoyable than I anticipated. The classes are interesting, and the professors keep you on your toes. On most days, the professor or one of your fellow students will make a comment that gets the entire class laughing. All of my professors do a good job at engaging the class in the discussion and keeping students interested. If you're thinking about attending law school at Mizzou, feel free to e-mail me at . I would be happy to answer any of your questions or explain in greater depth what law school is like. Good luck! |
