Preparing for the Bar Examination

The Missouri Bar Examination is given each year in February and July in Jefferson City.

Students are urged to plan their schedules and course selection accordingly. Those students who plan to take the bar examination of another state should consult with the bar examiners of that state or examine materials on file in the Career Development library in room 103.

Law students seeking an early character and fitness determination are encouraged to register with the Clerk of the Supreme Court of Missouri not later than the first October 1st after the student has commenced the study of law. There is also an application process for taking the Bar Exam which must be completed by March 15 for the July exam and October15 for the February exam. Forms for both of these activities are available in Room 203.

The Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) is required for admission to the Missouri Bar as well as to the bar of many other states. The examination is given in Columbia three times per year and may be taken prior to graduation. Registration forms may be obtained in Room 203.
